Around Madison: Brunch!

Weekends are treated with utmost respect at our house. It is the time we really recharge and are re-energized. One of our most favorite luxuries is brunch– the husband makes an extra special creation of eggs, sausage, cheese on bagel and hash browns. On other weekends, when we want to reward ourselves or if friends/family are in town, we take them to our favorite place for brunch— Lazy Jane’s.

I don’t remember when I discovered Lazy Jane’s for the first time, but I knew that it was special the moment I walked in. I don’t know if it’s the eclectic and quirky decorations or the endearing way the servers at Lazy Jane’s shout out your name or whatever creative name you decide to go by that day (we’ve been Megatron, Indiana Jones, — but I was completely won over when I had my breakfast.

Each and every brunch offering they have is excellent! My favorite is their Seitan hash and eggs. Another thing I love about Lazy Jane’s is their coffee. They have one of the best tasting brewed coffee and that’s saying a lot because I don’t like brewed coffee. Their pastries are also phenomenal. Between the husband and I, we’ve tried almost everything on their menu and have really found them all to be exceptional. Some days

you have to wait longer than usual but its worth it.

Other favorite places for brunch?

For old-fashioned greasy spoon diner experience check out Cleveland’s. Get your favorite eggs, meat and hash brown plate. The husband really likes their egg sandwiches and hash browns. Their egg sandwiches and pancakes are local favorites. Cleveland’s 410 E Wilson St Madison, WI 53703 (p) (608) 251-4455

For a more contemporary diner experience, try Bluephies. Bluephies would be my second favorite brunch place. I fell in love with their stuffed french toasts. They make it with thick french bread with ricotta filling and fresh blueberries. Bluephies 2701 Monroe St # 700 Madison, WI 53711 (p) (608) 231-3663

Manna Cafe is another favorite. Their pan-roasted frittata is mouth-watering. I also like their fresh yogurt and fruit and french toast. Manna Cafe 611 N Sherman Ave Madison, WI 53704 (p) (608) 663-5500
