Thinking Green

The new issue of Madison Magazine just arrived and its all about being Green. I’m very proud to say that the company I’ve been working for is Number Ten on the Top 25 Green Heroes in Madison! Congratulations BEST Energies!
In the same issue, Madison Magazine has an article on tips for eco-living for our homes. My favorites are :
Paper or Plastic: Neither! Opt for reusable tote bags when you hit the stores.
Ayos tip: You can also make your own recycled bag like the one I made below by fusing grocery bags together. Instructions here.

Ok it’s not the prettiest, but it was my first try. It holds a lot of weight too!

From Etsy.
On the Go: Bring your own coffee mug to your favorite java joint. And pack lunches in reusable bags and containers to cut down on unnecessary trash.
Ayos tip: Buy a quality but also good-looking mug so that you would want to take it everywhere! I got a Starbucks mug special edition ‘Chinese New Year’ that we bought in Taiwan in January. Picture to come later.
Real Deal: Replace paper napkins with the washable cloth varieties. And use real dishes instead of disposable plates and cups— even at parties.
Ayos tip: Shopping during end of season sales is the best time to buy plates, especially those plastic reusable ones perfect for your bigger outdoor parties when china can get broken, etc.
